Most of the times what we say is good may or may not be good, because the word ‘good’ as an adjective and not as a noun doesn’t have any absolute meaning. The term reflects people’s perception. It is a relative term. When you appreciate any of the qualities of a person, it’s just that she is better than you as far as that particular quality is concerned. Or as good(?) as you if you think you are good at the same quality. E.g. when and if you perceive me as a good synthesizer player, you actually think that I play the instrument better than you do. I would be angry and put off when one would unnecessarily praise others not me ;) for something they were not. Why people unnecessarily praise others? Yesterday, when the thought which is mentioned above, popped up in my mind, I found the reason. They don’t appreciate unnecessarily. It’s their perception. There are no standard defined for a thing being good.
Think of some people who are/were on peak in their respective fields. Sir Donald Bradman, Carlos Santana, Warren Buffet etc. Such people have set limits to reach to motivate others in the respective fields. I would say, when one reaches this limit, we may say he is good at that.
So always try to be better, than yourself and others, you’ll be absolute good.
Does this post mean good=best?
