Happy Birthday Anju, Pinki & Nikhil

My birthday 14th October is always a wonderful day for me. Not because I get gifts and people wish me but I get to talk to many of my freinds whom I don't talk in my normal routine. Anyways, what I want to tell you is something unusual thing that happened yesterday.
Vrushali placed an order for Pineapple Cake(I don't know what they call it.) at Relish. She told them to write 'Happy Birthday Nikhil'
In the evening, we received 2 cakes. One was the Pineapple cake and another was a big Black Forest. :O You can see what was written on the Black Forest in the picture. We tried to contact Relish but it was closed for the day... So we enjoyed the black forest. Yummy.....

A must read for everybody. It's one of the best books I've ever read. I was just going through the book yesterday. I would like to share some beautiful sentences I came accorss.

If you haven't read this book, you are missing something in life you don't know.

After Long Time...

So I am posting something original after long time. I still don’t know what to write…will just keep on writing what will come to my mind. Life is just moving and I have no control over it.(Quite a hopeless start, isn’t it?) I’ve learned the meaning of a Marathi proverb ‘हेही गेले, तेही गेले’ many times in last few months in practical manner. Yesterday we were supposed to go to Karjat for the picnic but it was canceled because of some reasons. (I remember another Marathi proverb ‘कथा कोणाची, व्यथा कोणाची!’) Nevertheless, I came to know it very late so I couldn’t plan anything else. We (Susmit, Siddhesh, Viraj and I) had a great picnic yesterday at Marine Drive. We did everything we usually do on a one day picnic out there.
Summer has been very good and I have had plenty of mangoes. Schedule is not much hectic. My performance in the first year of MBA was disastrous and chances of me getting finance are infinitesimally small. I watched many movies in last forty days. Most of them were good. I’ve been trying to avoid some people since last one month but have been successfully unsuccessful in the same. They say it rightly, “If you try to make everybody happy, you lose the fun.”
I am happy with the results of the general election 2009. Congress (I) was rewarded for the risk they took by fighting elections against their allies also in many constituencies. Kudos to Rahul Gandhi! The Sentiments in the share markets have changed as you can see from what happened on 18th May, 2009. We can hope for the faster recovery of economy. I just want a job in a company with my favourite profile and a decent salary. Government is there to take care of rest. Vishwanathan Anand had a great rapid tournament. I enjoyed the IPL and I am now looking forward to the T20 World Cup which is taking place in England. All the best to team India.

Feeling and Having

This is not my composition. I have got it through an email. It's worth reading and keeping in mind.

Money has no memory. Experience has.
You will never know what the total cost of your education was, but for a lifetime you will recall and relive the memories of schools and colleges.

Few years from now, you will forget the amount you paid to settle the hospitalization bill, but will ever cherish having saved your mother's life or the life you get to live with the just born.

You won't remember the cost of your honeymoon, but to the last breath remember the experiences of the bliss of togetherness.

Money has no memory. Experience has.
Good times and bad times, times of prosperity and times of poverty, times when the future looked so secure and times when you didn't know from where the tomorrow will come… life has been in one way or the other a roller-coaster ride for everyone. Beyond all that abundance and beyond all that deprivation, what remains is the memory of experiences.

Sometimes the wallet was full… sometimes even the pocket was empty. There was enough and you still had reasons to frown. There wasn't enough and you still had reasons to smile. Today, you can look back with tears of gratitude for all the times you had laughed together, and also look back with a smile at all the times you cried alone.

All in all, life filled you with experiences to create a history of your own self, and you alone can remember them all. The first time you balanced yourself on your cycle without support…The first time she said 'yes' and it was two years since you proposed…

The first cry… the first steps… the first word… the first kiss… all of your child…

The first gift you bought for your parents and the first gift your daughter gave you…

The first award… the first public appreciation… the first stage performance…

And the list is endless… Experiences, with timeless memory…

No denying that anything that's material cost money, but the fact remains the cost of the experience will be forgotten, but the experience never.

So, what if it's economic recession? Let it be, but let there not be a recession to the quality of your life.

You can still take your parents, if not on a pilgrimage, at least to the local temple. You can still play with your children, if not on an international holiday, at least in the local park. It doesn't cost money to lie down or to take a loved one onto your lap.

Nice time to train the employees, create leadership availability and be ready for the wonderful times when they arrive.

Hey! Aspects like your health, knowledge development and spiritual growth are not economy dependent.

Time will pass… economy will revive… currency will soon be in current… and in all this, I don't want you to look back and realise you did nothing but stayed in gloom.

Recession can make you lose out on money. Let it not make you lose out on experiences… If you are not happy with what you have, no matter how much more you have, you will still not be happy.

Make a statement with the way you live your life: How I feel has nothing to do with how much I have.

My Favourite Song- Someday Someway

Listen to this song by 'Michael Learns to Rock' at least once. The music and the lyrics are too good.

In my search for freedom
and peace of mind
I've left the memories behind
Wanna start a new life
but it seems to be rather absurd
when I know the truth
is that I always think of you
Chorus:
Someday someway
together we will be baby
I will take and you will take your time
We'll wait for our fate
cos' nobody owns us baby
We can shake we can shake the rock
Try to throw the picture out of my mind
try to leave the memories behind
Here by the ocean
wave's carry voices from you
Do you know the truth
I am thinking of you too
Chorus:
Someday someway
together we will be baby...
The love we had together
just fades away in time
And now you've got your own world
and I guess I've got mine
But the passion that you planted
in the middle of my heart
is a passion that will never stop

Notional Loss

I've observed this quality in many people. Perhaps this is how mankind thinks. When you get something, or you are expecting something you don't deserve or have not expected, you become joyous, but when you lose it or don't get it, it hurts. For example, give a gift to your sibling/friend everyday. Don't explain to them why you are doing it. Do this for 15-16 days. Now stop giving gift. Your sibling would ask you why you didn't gift him/her and would expect the gift from you. Let's take another example. If your dream girl calls you to go for a date, you are elated but again when she calls to cancel the date... why do you become disheartened? Remember Uday Chopra from Dhoom 1 and 2.
Why don't we think prudently in such situations? If the things are not meant for us,why do we sadden because of the notional loss? We become emotionally attached to the notional gain we make and start claiming right over the notional profit and then notional loss becomes emotional loss.
What the hell I am writing! That's it for now. Hope I've conveyed what I wanted to.

Survived.. Rather Saved

The results of my first semester exams are out and I(?) have somehow managed to pass in all the subjects and got first class. It's the output of the input given by rather not given by me during first semester after being processed by our honorable teachers. Being honest, I didn't perform up to the mark as I had not worked hard. I think the teachers were generous and kind to pass me. There was a mix of emotions; guilt and relief, when I received the mark sheet. When I got results of the mid term exams, I decided to work hard for the final exam but things didn't go as well as I had expected. Major time was consumed by project work. I read more in the vacations after the exams than before the exams.
When lectures commenced in the new year, teachers would discuss question papers and some mistakes made by students. Every time, my case was discussed and my case was discussed every time but I was kept anonymous. I also would join my friends in laughing when teachers would discuss some funny mistakes, despite knowing they were made by me. Statistically, the standard deviation of my marks is 6.56 which looks good but if you look at my marks, you'll come to know I didn't do justice to all the subjects. I was biased towards some of the subjects. It has always been like that since childhood. Except TY when I loved all the subjects. I believe all the students in DIMSR have almost same aptitude. The difference between the marks of two students is just the difference between hard work done by them. It's time to introspect and retrospect. It's time to pull up my socks. For that I have to wear shoes rather than sandals(Read:floaters) everyday . So I'll pull up socks tomorrow morning. Oh god, what I am writing!
P.S. Historically it has been seen that those who accompany me, do well academically. There were Siddhesh and Vishwajeet till HSC. There was Indrajeet in TY. Now, there is Siddhesh who scored much higher than me and secured 7th rank. Any girl wanna get good marks?
