Front Page News

India announced its greatest civilian award 'Bharatratna' but our national(?) newspapers whose names have words like 'Hindustan' or 'India' printed front page top news headlines about voting in U.S.A. I haven't seen other English newspapers. I am too disheartened to write much.

King Is King

I congratulate Vishwanathan Anand a.k.a. Vishy for his splendid and spellbinding performance in the recent match against Vladimir Kramnik. In the recent match, Anand forced Kramnik to make mistakes. Much have been said about the Undisputed King of the world of 64 squares so I am not going into details and waste my and your time praising him. The reason I admire this man is he is not a product of any Chess school. His natural talent was nurtured by his mother. Even if he is ruling the world of 64 squares, he still works hard to find new strategies, works on his weaknesses, and buries himself into the depth of this beautiful and mysterious world everyday. He takes efforts to keep himself physically and more importantly mentally fit. I think he is the greatest sportsman India has ever had. Next is legendary Dhyanchand. Though he has been rewarded with ‘Padmavibhushan’, you would agree with me if I say he should be given ‘Bharatratna’. He has suggested the greatest Chess player Garry Kasparov to make a come back to Chess. I would like to see them fighting against each other.
Hats off to Vishwanathan Anand.

Watch And Ignore

Following are some of the practices which are not allowed by law but they take place on regular basis in Mumbai.
1. Selling things on roads or footpaths in non hawking zone.
2. Cooking food on streets.
3. Smoking in public.
4. Not to wear helmets.(By bike riders)
5. Building huts.
6. Fishermen selling fishes door to door.
7. Spitting/ littering public places.
8. Not putting up Marathi signboards as per government/MMC rule.
9. Standing on the footsteps of a rail while traveling.
10. Sitting on the top of rail bogie.
11. Denial of fares to passengers.(by rickshaw and taxi drivers)
12. Cleaning vehicles on roads.
13. Selling/buying pirated CD's.
14. Consuming liquor without having license.

Who is responsible for these things?
a) The people who do it-
Argument against this: Humanity flows in veins of one’s body when one says “These people do it for their bread and butter.” Or “They have no other option” or “They are very poor. What’s their fault?”

b) The people whose duty is to prevent this from happening.-
Arguments against this: Well, if I beat you, you should blame the people whose duty is to maintain law and order.

I know this is quite pessimistic and hopeless post.

Happy Birthday To Me

14th Oct, 2008;Time: 4:30 pm
I slept at 2:30am. I woke up at 6:30 am. I was so enthusiastic that I wasn't feeling sleepy.for a change. What a day this have been! This is the best birthday I've had yet. I've same feeling on every birthday of mine.Phone calls, short messages, emails, wishes in person etc. I was flooded with wishes. Everybody from my division was wishing me in DIMSR. I was feeling so special.Talking about gifts, I've got mobile earphones, a pair of shoes, an empty wallet, big Dairymilk and loads of wishes. Talking to dear ones after long time is an ineffable experience. Kishore called me after 2-3 years. I don't remember. I was and am joyous. The day is not over yet.Yesterday night I was speaking on phone for more than two hours. Birthday is a special but what makes it so special are your dear ones' wishes and blessings. I am thinking over one thing; does birthday make you so special or you make your birthday special. I've an answer too, but I'll answer tomorrow if I get time.
Happy Birthday Nikhil.
15th Oct, 2008;Time 10:00 pm
Well, I think birthday is special and it makes you feel special. Because today was continuation from 13th October. People were behaving in normal manner. I knew it but just wanted to experience this day to make sure.

Good is Not Good

Most of the times what we say is good may or may not be good, because the word ‘good’ as an adjective and not as a noun doesn’t have any absolute meaning. The term reflects people’s perception. It is a relative term. When you appreciate any of the qualities of a person, it’s just that she is better than you as far as that particular quality is concerned. Or as good(?) as you if you think you are good at the same quality. E.g. when and if you perceive me as a good synthesizer player, you actually think that I play the instrument better than you do. I would be angry and put off when one would unnecessarily praise others not me ;) for something they were not. Why people unnecessarily praise others? Yesterday, when the thought which is mentioned above, popped up in my mind, I found the reason. They don’t appreciate unnecessarily. It’s their perception. There are no standard defined for a thing being good.

Think of some people who are/were on peak in their respective fields. Sir Donald Bradman, Carlos Santana, Warren Buffet etc. Such people have set limits to reach to motivate others in the respective fields. I would say, when one reaches this limit, we may say he is good at that.

So always try to be better, than yourself and others, you’ll be absolute good.

Does this post mean good=best?

Happy Independence Day

As decided yesterday, people from my class wore either saffron or white or green. Some guys showed some sense and wore blue. A girl wore pink and argued that it’s our mistake that we hadn’t brought orange glasses so it couldn’t look saffron. I am avoiding to write some people’s name. So as per our girl CR's It’s not class representative, it’s class ruler orders, we sat in three sets. Front two rows were occupied by saffron(?) coloured dressed people. Middle three rows were occupied by people who wore white dresses with four people in middle who wore blue. Remaining rows were occupied by people who wore green dresses. One of the students was so enthusiastic that he wore green socks too. Lolz. We were happy that we were doing something different. As the class filled, we were ‘forced to’ stand up for national anthem. I was wondering if they knew the meaning of the Independence. Ramarao, Rahul, I, Aashish and some others were saying that we would start singing national anthem after the professor arrives and were not interested in standing up for national anthem, but couldn’t go on arguing. So we all had sung national anthem. Ritu clicked photograph of the class. She is very good at it, but doesn’t click only my photo. Then Prof. Date arrived. He gave a wonderful speech on Independence Day, India, and some other things. He always speaks nice. Then he suggested us to sing a national anthem. So we this time willingly stood up for national anthem again. All things after that happened as usual. In the final lecture, Prof. Mohite also suggested us to sing national anthem. We all followed. When all things were happening, I was feeling that we were doing something different and enthusiastically. At the end of the day the dress code thing looked foolish. We could have managed with out following dress codes. Dress code didn’t make any value addition. Now, when I think from third person’s view, we all were behaving stupid and childlike. The only sensible things we did were singing national anthem and attending lectures. :)

Dil Chahta Hai, Kabhi Na Beete Chamkile Din

Two weeks have passed since my college or Institute as they like to call it started. I feel as if the college has just begun yesterday. I cannot and don’t want to forget the first day of the college. How seniors irritated us juniors, how teachers including our dean of academics joined them, our frustration, anger and at the last, our surprised expressions and joyous face when we came to know they were playing Bakra with us. A perfect welcome by seniors. It’s our college’s tradition to ‘billy-goatise’ juniors on their first day of college. It is one of the memorable days of my life. I would suggest MBA aspirants to take admission into our institute named N L Dalmia Institute of Management Studies and Research (NLDIMSR) just to experience this particular day. You may leave the college after that if you want to join other B school. :D
Talking about college, there are strict standards we students are supposed to maintain. We cannot means we are not allowed to use cellphones inside college campus. We are not allowed to wear T shirts. What the heck! We should complete assignments even if there are no marks for doing the same and do homework. Second last one; this is tacit rule; we should behave like Post graduate students or like managers. What the heck! The college treats us as if we are still in school and at the same time, expect us to behave like PG students. Last but the most important, we should follow all the rules.
Let me write something about my class. I am in C division. Class strength is sixty. All students are amicable though some of them hesitate to open up. All are helpful except the one girl who didn’t give me the birthday list of whole class. Hehe, just kidding. I really enjoy the lectures because of them. We all have fun and laughter together. It makes me nervous because following thought pops up in my mind whenever I feel that I am feeling great at this place,
This is the last phase of my student life :-((
and I have only one year. We won’t have lectures together in the second year as different people will choose different things.
I talked about my college. I talked about my classroom which is a part of the college. Now I write something about girls of my class as they are an integral part of C. Girls...my favourite subject as you in particular the members of Ekapekshaek may think of me :P Well girls’ group is very active. Read: hyperactive. Lolz They are always doing something. Except some of them. Some of the girls always take initiative. Last week we went to see a movie called Singh is Kinng. I don’t think any class in any college has gone to see a movie just after one week of college beginning. Today only the girls have decided that whole class would wear white, saffron or green on the independence day. They didn’t forget to add ‘if possible’ so that it wouldn’t 'look' compulsory. Smart girls!! Sounds paradoxical? I can’t help it. I don’t talk to them much. You know I don’t open up easily to unfamiliar people. It takes some time for me. Many of the boys are idle and are interested in their respective groups. At least they seem to be. I seem one of them though I am not. The girls have given class the ambiance of family. Please don’t misunderstand. :P Few of them look pretty ;-) I am such a hopeless boy. Don’t ask me who I like. Time has flown very fast since last two weeks. It’ll pass faster in upcoming days. Day by day I lose it more and gain more happy memories at the cost of time. :) or :-( ? Which smiley do I use?
Phew!! I am tired!! How shall I end this post? Okay. That’s it. Friends, please comment on this post as this is the longest post posted on my blog so far and I have posted after long time. :-) Good night. Happy Independence Day.
